Frequently Asked Questions
Protecting Your Banking Information
1. What security measures has the bank put in place to protect my data?
Bendigo Bank is very conscious of protecting the security of all customer information. We have taken steps to ensure the confidentiality of your accounts.
To ensure that communication between customers and the Bank is secure, there are a number of security features in place:
Robust firewall technology to prevent unauthorised access to the Bank's systems.
- A security team constantly monitors the system for suspicious activity and automatic alerts are generated if any abnormal activities arise.
- 128-bit data encryption has been put in place to provide some of the best protection available to keep your password, account details and other sensitive information, including any messages sent via Secure Email, from being accessed by an unauthorised party.
- A short time-out limit has been set. After this time, the system automatically logs off and ends your session. Remember, if you are not using your computer for a period of time make sure you 'log off' completely from Bendigo e-banking so that your banking information cannot be viewed by others.
Security Tokens
A Security Token provides a second level of authentication for Bendigo e-banking used in conjunction with your Access ID and PIN. It looks like a key ring with a digital number display. At the press of a button, it generates a six-digit number called an Authentication Key. A different number will be generated every 36 seconds.
Once you have purchased and suitably activated a Security Token, you cannot logon to Bendigo e-banking without your Access ID, PIN and the Authentication Key generated by the Security Token. It is important that the Security Token is activated immediately to maximise the protection it offers. This will eliminate the risk of criminals logging into your e-banking as they will not have the Security Token to access the Authentication Key.

Bendigo Bank is taking every available viable security measure because we want to provide a secure environment for you to do your banking.
